Green card for greener future
Korea Times - Feb 13, 2012
Normally, polar jet streams keep the cold stream from moving south in the Northern Hemisphere but the continuous temperature rise in the North Pole region weakens the jet stream, releasing cold winds to move downwards. Science aside, the recent severe ...
Unusual Winter Temperature Related to Circulation of Polar Cold Air
Arirang News - Feb 4, 2012
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, this cold snap sweeping across Europe and Northeast Asia, and the warm temperatures in North America, are all-related to a polar atmospheric circulation, caused by the weakened polar jet stream.

Weather of the San Francisco Bay Region
by: Harold Gilliam
Possibly no comparable area on earth displays as many varieties of weather simultaneously as the San Francisco Bay Region. Harold Gilliam explains the atmospheric forces and geologic formations that come together in this region's unique confluence of wind, river, ocean, bay, and hills. The fully revised and updated edition of this best-selling book incorporates the latest scientific information--much of it gathered from satellite technology--that has greatly improved our understanding of the weather in the years since the book was first published.

Contrail Formation, Perseverance and Spread, SCIENTIFIC SUMMARY
Contrails are a world wide occurence. These have been very well observed and reported on. There is certainly NO conspiracy involving any goverment or drug company. Jet streams play a major part in Contrail formation, persistence and spread. See Jet stream From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jet streams flow from west to east in the upper portion of the troposphere. Jet streams are fast flowing, narrow air currents found in the atmospheres of some planets. The main jet streams are located near the tropopause, the transition between the troposphere (where temperature decreases with height) and the stratosphere (where temperature increases with height).[1] The major jet streams on earth are westerly winds (flowing west to east). Their paths typically have a meandering shape; jet streams may start, stop, split into two or more parts, combine into one stream, or flow in various directions including the opposite direction of most of the jet. The strongest jet streams are the polar jets, at around 712 km (23,00039,000 ft) above sea level, and the higher and somewhat weaker subtropical jets at around 1016 km (33,00052,000 ft). The northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere each have both a polar jet and a subtropical jet. The northern hemisphere polar jet is situated over the middle to northern latitudes of North America, Europe, and Asia, while the southern hemisphere polar jet mostly circles Antarctica all year round. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are these contrails in the the flight path's of regular air transport? This is allot of aircraft hang'n-out in the Polar Jet?!? "One of the greatest dangers to aircraft—playing a role in numerous destructive and fatal accidents around the world—comes in the form of droplets of water. Clouds are made up of tiny water particles with diameters typically between 10 and 50 microns. In clean air, cloud droplets can exist in liquid form down to temperatures as low as -40 °C. These subfreezing, liquid clouds are referred to as being "supercooled." As soon as supercooled droplets contact an aircraft ascending or descending through the cloud cover, they form layers of ice on any unprotected surface, including the leading edges of wings and rotor blades, tails, antennas, and within jet engines. This ice accretion can cause engine damage and dramatically affect the aerodynamics of the aircraft. This can lead to reduced performance and even catastrophic loss of control." www.nasa.gov

South Atlantic Jetstream (2010.11.02) [720p]
High-level cirrus clouds (white color) mark a pronounced polar jet stream over the South Atlantic. The case is a classic example for the cycloid shape of an unperturbed jet stream. Note also the propagation of super geostrophic winds downstream, the snapping of the jet and the beginning cyclogenesis in the right exit region of the jet. Also visible are numerous transverse cirrus bands, which is a satellite signature of potential turbulence. credit: EUMETSAT source: www.eumetsat.int
